According to TechCrunch, the company introduced Zoom Docs, Slides, and Sheets, a voice translator for meetings, an AI agent builder for people without technical experience, and an updated AI Companion 3.0 for the desktop application. The new office applications should be available in preview in the spring, and the AI avatars that Zoom showed off last year are promised to be released later this month. These are photorealistic digital twins that can reproduce a person’s appearance, facial expressions, and lip and eye movements.
Zoom is promoting these not as separate features, but as a new format for working within its service. The company wants users to be able to create draft documents, data tables, or presentations based on meeting transcripts and data from other services right in Zoom, instead of having to go to other products after a call. Separately, Workvivo, Zoom’s application for internal communication in companies, will receive an AI assistant with access to Slack, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Gmail, Outlook, Asana, and Jira.
The company is also betting on task automation. Users will be able to create their own AI agents using text prompts and then call them in the chat to perform specific actions. Zoom is opening up APIs for language, voice, and visual models for developers. They can be deployed both in the cloud and locally. At the same time, the company is adding a deepfake detection feature to meetings, which should warn participants about possible video or audio tampering.
In fact, Zoom is trying to go beyond video calls and enter the territory of office platforms. Now the company wants not only to hold meetings, but also to close document work, search through corporate data, automate routines and even partially present the user in a meeting through a digital avatar. This is the essence of the news: Zoom is trying to become not just a service for calls, but a full-fledged working environment with built-in AI.
Previously, dev.ua wrote about how Zoom introduced a web version of its AI assistant as part of the release of AI Companion 3.0. From now on, free users also have access to the assistant’s functions, such as creating meeting summaries, creating task lists, or obtaining call analytics, but with certain limitations.
