Ajax Systems, together with Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, has opened a design and robotics laboratory, the fifth in its educational initiative. The new space is designed to give students a «live» experience in designing, assembling, and testing robotic systems.

The opening is announced by DOU. The laboratory is located at the Faculty of Instrumentation and is designed for about 20 workplaces. The space is divided into a design area with computers for CAD/CAE work and a workshop for prototyping and finalizing assemblies. Cases from previous internships are available for training, in particular a robot manipulator for moving objects along a given trajectory.
The focus is on training designers and mechanics/robotics specialists: students will practice designing drives, power elements, stable structures, and integration with control. A separate team of teachers, engineers, and administrators will work in the laboratory, with whom Ajax Systems specialists will stay in touch. The space is open to all KPI students, and master classes in robotics, automation, metrology, and optics, as well as practical classes and internships, will be held here. The first educational program in the field of Mechanical Engineering is planned to be launched in November 2025.
The university emphasizes that the demand for robotics engineers is growing globally: the industrial robotics market is estimated at more than $16.5 billion, and in Ukraine, more than 15,000 ground robots are expected to be launched by the end of 2025. According to the founder of Ajax Systems, Oleksandr Konotopsky, business investments in laboratories are not charity, but normal practice: the most important inventions are born where there are resources and the ability to quickly bring technologies to a product.
First Vice-Rector of KPI Mykhailo Bezugliy adds: such projects keep talents in the country and give students a trajectory from the classroom to production. Over the past year, the university has opened 10 new laboratories, and 5 more are being prepared. According to Ajax Systems, 1,800 students have already passed through the laboratories of the Ajax Next program, 44 of them got jobs in the company.
In September 2024, Ajax Systems opened an electronics laboratory at NAU; a critical infrastructure cybersecurity laboratory previously opened at KPI. The current launch is the fifth joint laboratory in the company’s lineup, designed to close the shortage of «hard-core» engineers and accelerate students' path from educational cases to real-world projects in robotics.
