Diya. Signature has received international formats and is available for use in the EU
The Ukrainian digital signature in the «Diya» application has received support for international PAdES, XAdES, and CAdES formats and the ASiC-e container, so signed files can be submitted to both Ukrainian institutions and organizations in EU countries — without manual conversions and doubts about compatibility.
The Ukrainian digital signature in the «Diya» application has received support for international PAdES, XAdES, and CAdES formats and the ASiC-e container, so signed files can be submitted to both Ukrainian institutions and organizations in EU countries — without manual conversions and doubts about compatibility.
The update was announced on the Telegram channel «Actions». The Ministry of Digital Affairs explains that the formats cover typical cases in the European Union:
PAdES — signature directly inside PDF (contracts, statements, acts);
XAdES — for structured data (reporting, tenders, when the system checks);
CAdES — when you need to cover several files with one signature at once (a protected «archive» of signatures is created).
To store a package of documents, a universal ASiC-e container is offered, in which you can put several files and sign everything at once.
You can use the service through the official portal. The algorithm is simple: upload the file (s), select the format (PAdES/XAdES/CAdES) and confirm the signature in the «Diya» application. This approach should close the everyday scenarios of Ukrainians abroad — from university admission and submitting a resume to confirming certificates for relatives in EU countries.
Important clarification: technical compatibility does not mean automatic acceptance. In Europe, e-signature trust levels are in place under the eIDAS regulation (advanced/qualified), and a specific institution may have its own requirements for the type of signature or the method of identification of the signatory. The «Signature.Action» update provides the required formats and correct verification of signatures, but the final «yes/no» depends on the rules of the document recipient.
The expansion of formats was implemented with the support of the EU within the DT4UA and EU4DigitalUA projects, which are implemented by the Academy of e-Government. The ministry expects that this will reduce friction between Ukrainian and European business processes: less paper and scanned copies, more opportunities for remote document processing and application submission without physical presence.
Previously, dev.ua wrote about how a new employee, Diya.AI, appeared at Diya — a personal assistant. He will provide government services and advise users on them on the Diya portal. The developers promise to launch a mobile version soon.
