Osa kamikaze drones, which were probably used during the SBU operation against strategic Russian air bases, became an example of the qualitative evolution of Ukrainian FPV platforms. According to Defense Express, this particular drone model played a key role in the attack on Tu-95MS, Tu-22M3 and Tu-160 bombers carrying cruise missiles.
The main engineering advantage of the Wasp is its thick, «closed» frame with integrated cables, tightly-mounted electronics, and a fixed power port. This design not only ensures high stability in combat conditions, but also allows drones to be transported without loss in trucks hidden in «hives» — specially camouflaged dummy structures.
Another design feature is the front placement of the antenna in the nose, and not at the back, as is usually the case in FPV models. This not only increases the stability of the connection, but also adds accuracy when aiming. The skids, according to experts, perform not only the role of a launch support, but also contain cumulative combat elements.
The Osa is capable of carrying up to 3.3 kg of combat load, staying in the air for up to 15 minutes and accelerating to 42 m/s (about 150 km/h), which allows the drone to perform missions even in stormy winds. And according to sources familiar with First Contact’s developments, since early 2024 the company has been working on integrating artificial intelligence elements into its FPV platforms — for target recognition and targeting vulnerable nodes.

In the conditions of modern warfare, the reliability of the design, adaptation to difficult conditions and the potential for integrating AI solutions are key advantages. The probable baptism of fire of the «Wasp» in the strategic depths of the enemy demonstrates that Ukrainian engineers are not only keeping up with the technological race — they are leading it.
