Google is expanding the capabilities of its AI Mode: now users will have access to new deep search features, an improved chatbot, and even calls made by artificial intelligence.
According to a Google blog post, on July 17, the company officially began rolling out new tools for AI Mode, including Gemini 2.5 Pro and Deep Search. They are now available to subscribers of Google AI Pro and AI Ultra plans. And while these features are partially integrated into other Google products, the company is gradually making AI Mode the primary way to interact with the search engine.
The main new feature is Deep Search, based on the powerful LLM Gemini 2.5 Pro. This tool allows you to ask more complex queries and get structured, deep answers with clarification, detail, and links to verified sources. This significantly distinguishes it from traditional keyword-based search.
Of particular note is the AI calling feature, which was announced back at Google I/O in May. It allows artificial intelligence to call local businesses to find out relevant information, such as prices or product availability. When searching for stores or services, a button like «Check prices with AI» appears in the results. Calls are made through the Project Astra tool and are already available to all Google Search users, but with higher limits for Pro and Ultra subscribers.
Google clarifies that currently the calls are working in test mode: the AI can only communicate with companies open to public appeals, and is limited to basic queries. However, this is just the beginning, in the future it is planned to expand the topics for calls and the depth of interaction with services.
AI Mode is Google’s new approach to search, where classic results are augmented with LLM-based answers. It was first announced at the Google I/O 2025 spring conference and began testing for the general public in May. The new wave of integrations demonstrates Google’s commitment to making AI a key interface for accessing information.
As a reminder, we also reported on how Google’s Gemini AI, integrated into Workspace, was vulnerable to hidden instructions in emails. Attackers can use this technique to create fake system warnings and mislead users without any links or attachments.
