KAI plans to create a new miltech cluster. What is known about the initiative

The formation of a new miltech environment in Kyiv based on the Kyiv Aviation Institute (formerly the National Academy of Sciences) was announced by the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration (KMMA), Timur Tkachenko.

«There is a real prospect that KAI will become a center that will unite science, business, and the community in finding and creating solutions that will contribute to a technological breakthrough. This is exactly what will give us security, and soldiers success on the battlefield,» Timur Tkachenko reported on social networks, talking about the creation of a new miltech cluster.

To discuss this issue, on March 8, he, together with Ihor Reva, an officer of the Cyber Incident Response Department of the Information Technology Department of the Ministry of Defense, and People’s Deputy Roman Hryshchuk, met with the KAI team.

According to Timur Tkachenko, the Kyiv Aviation Institute (KAI) State University was chosen primarily for its experience and infrastructure, which will help to master the miltech direction. In addition, the main advantage is that the institution trains specialists in engineering specialties necessary for the military, from UAV and electronic warfare developers to engineers in the field of artificial intelligence.

«The creation of such centers is a real boost for the scientific component,» the head of the KMVA emphasized. He added that the new miltech cluster will help developers open access to science-intensive equipment for their own projects, and that units of the Defense Forces will also be able to join the work in such centers.

As a reminder, on January 28, KAI presented the concept of a science park, the development of which is planned for the near future. The project is planned to be launched together with businesses and is looking for future partners who could become co-founders of the park.
