An IT-specialist responded to a job posting with a resume in code. Such a creative approach will attract attention and be remembered, but there is one «but»: will the recruiter be able to find the necessary information?
Recruiter Tetyana Kozachenko recently received a resume in code, which she shared on LinkedIn.
«I understand that if it were a designer, a creative person, then one could show a creative approach. But here it is not clear what information about experience, periods of work, education, and the format of work that the candidate is considering,» said Tetyana.

«The candidate decided to start right away with Hard Skills, funny,» wrote Chief Operating Officer, Olena M.
It turned out that this is not the first case of such creativity on the part of IT specialists .
«I once received a resume in this format for a Tech Lead position. Of course, I spent a long time reworking it to show it to the client. But my conscience wouldn’t allow me to reject a skilled specialist for the design of the resume. As a result, the company received an excellent specialist with an unconventional vision, who planned the product architecture, supervised its implementation, and then worked in the company as a service technician. So, away with the templates, everything will be fine. Of course, if you are looking for someone who has to make interesting decisions, not just an executor…», said HR Olga Samchuk.
«So this is not new, you just haven’t seen anything like this before. I even saw a website in this format. But there was really enough information about the experience there,» added Frontend developer Gregory Dmitriev.
At the same time, such creativity complicates the work of recruiters and may be incomprehensible to non-technical specialists.
«Creative? Yes. But recruiters usually don’t have time to admire all those creative little things. Therefore, there is a possibility that the resume will simply be discarded, unfortunately,» Senior Quality Assurance Engineer Kateryna Krolevetska shared her opinion.
«It is clear that the specialist tried to be creative, and visually it really looks interesting. However, such a format either limits the amount of information, or, if there are additional pages, on the contrary, excessively expands it, which complicates perception. Therefore, it is better to use a different template. The resume itself is quite simple, but at the same time not meaningful. If it were not for the mention of 3 years of experience, I would assume that this is a trainee level,» wrote IT recruiter Violetta Strelchenko.
«If he were to submit this resume to some techie, it would be really interesting. HR, I think, is a bit difficult to read. It would be better if he had already done the classic one. But the implementation is interesting,» noted Front-end developer Oleksiy Ustinov.
Senior Frontend Developer Arsen Kazydub was critical of the code itself: «The author uses const in his sections. It turns out that his skills are constants, and he is not developing! Instead, it is much more appropriate to write let. This way he will show that his skills are variables that can change values. Of course, for the better.» At the same time, the IT-specialist added: «The person did not just write a resume, but invented a new programming language for this — a new hybrid, like JSX. And for this he definitely gets a plus in his karma.»
«From the CV, you can tell that the candidate does not do research and does not know how to analyze the target audience and its needs, but does as he pleases. Most likely, he has this approach in programming as well,» says FullStack Developer Roman Skorokhod.
