According to Variety, “Studio” star Ike Baringolz is in talks to play the role of billionaire and former associate of Donald Trump in the upcoming film Artifical. It was previously reported that the film will star Andrew Garfield (“Spider-Man,” “Conscience”) and Russian actor Yuri Borisov, who played in the film “Anora.”
Artificial is described as a “comedy drama set in the world of artificial intelligence.” The film is expected to focus on OpenAI in 2023, where its CEO Sam Altman has been fired and then rehired within days. Garfield is expected to play Altman, while Borisov is reported to play Ilya Sutzkever, the OpenAI co-founder who initiated Altman’s firing.
Altman's departure was announced on November 17, 2023. In its initial statement, the board of directors said that he had not been "consistently forthright" and that it no longer had confidence in his ability to lead the company. Along with Altman, former OpenAI president Greg Brockman decided to leave, and Mira Murati was appointed interim CEO.
Late Sunday, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced that Altman and Brockman would join a new AI team at Microsoft after efforts by investors and current employees to bring him back as CEO of OpenAI failed.
The OpenAI board faced a huge backlash from employees over how Altman's dismissal was perceived: they issued an ultimatum to management, promising to resign if the board did not reinstate Altman and resign.
This protest was joined by 95% of OpenAI employees , including Mira Murati, who was replaced as interim CEO by former Twitch CEO Emmett Shire, and OpenAI chief scientist Ilya Sutzkever, who played a leading role in Altman's firing, but later repented and admitted that he had been wrong.
On November 22, OpenAI announced that it had “reached an agreement in principle” under which Sam Altman would return to OpenAI as CEO with a new board.
Altman said he was looking forward to returning to the company. “I love OpenAI, and everything I’ve done over the past few days has been to preserve this team and its mission,” he wrote on social media.
