After a wave of loud statements about the «AI revolution,» businesses are increasingly faced with the mundane reality: technology increases productivity, but does not always add money as a result.
According to TechSpot, citing Deloitte’s State of AI in the Enterprise report, 74% of organizations expect to see revenue growth from their AI initiatives, but only a fifth have achieved this yet. Deloitte also details the current effects: 66% of respondents cite increased productivity and efficiency as the top benefit, while 20% reported real revenue growth and 40% reported cost reduction.
The publication also mentions the recent PwC Global CEO Survey, which covered 4,454 CEOs in 95 countries and territories: 56% of executives said that the implementation of AI has not yet brought benefits to their companies in either costs or revenues. In parallel, investments continue: 60% of participants in the Deloitte study say that employees already have access to «sanctioned» AI tools (versus less than 40% last year), but less than 60% of those to whom they have been opened use them on a daily basis.
A separate section of the report focuses on the labor market: 36% of companies expect at least 10% of jobs to be fully automated this year, and 82% predict this level of automation within three years. At the same time, 84% of respondents have not yet redesigned roles and processes for AI capabilities.
Deloitte presents the current results as an «early phase» and suggests that the next stage of AI implementation should give companies not only efficiency, but also a more sustainable competitive advantage.
