Ukrtelecom has signed a strategic partnership agreement with the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. The agreement aims to create a new educational model that will train future specialists in the IT and telecommunications industry with an emphasis on practice, innovation, and cyber security.
This is reported by Mediasat. According to the agreement, the company and the university will jointly update curricula, implement certificate courses for students, develop research projects, and modernize the university’s material and technical base. Students will have the opportunity to undergo internships at Ukrtelecom with the prospect of further employment.
The partnership pays special attention to cybersecurity, logistics in wartime, and the practical experience that the operator’s specialists gain by working in real conditions of attacks and infrastructure restoration. «Our specialists build and protect the country’s telecommunications infrastructure every day, and this experience will become an important part of the students' training,» emphasized Yuriy Kurmaz, CEO of Ukrtelecom.
For his part, the rector of KPI Anatoliy Melnychenko emphasized that the university has more than ten faculties and institutes training specialists in the field of IT and telecommunications. He believes that cooperation with a high-tech company will provide a powerful impetus for the development of engineering education in conditions of war and technological competition.
The agreement also includes educational activities for teachers: trainings, seminars, and workshops aimed at combining a scientific approach with business needs. Ultimately, this will create a full-fledged ecosystem for training personnel capable of developing the country’s critical telecom infrastructure.
This is not the first partnership between Ukrtelecom and KPI: previously, the operator collaborated with the Institute of Special Communications and Information Protection of NTUU KPI to strengthen the training of specialists in the field of infocommunications and information protection.
We previously wrote about how, as of the end of the first quarter of 2025, Ukrtelecom’s optical network reached 90,000 km of fiber-optic lines — this is the largest optical telecommunications infrastructure in Ukraine, the company claims.
