Chinese robotics company UBTech has begun mass deliveries of Walker S2 humanoid robots to industrial enterprises in China. Orders for these machines in 2025 have exceeded 800 million yuan ($113 million), and this is, in fact, the first-ever «army» of mechanical humanoids sent to work in factories, not in laboratories.

Chinese robotics company UBTech has begun mass deliveries of Walker S2 humanoid robots to industrial enterprises in China. Orders for these machines in 2025 have exceeded 800 million yuan ($113 million), and this is, in fact, the first-ever «army» of mechanical humanoids sent to work in factories, not in laboratories.

According to Interesting Engineering, UBTech has already shipped hundreds of Walker S2s to production sites, and production ramped up in mid-November; by the end of the year, the company plans to increase the number of robots delivered to 500 units. Customers are primarily interested in assembly line and logistics tasks, where people usually stand on their feet for hours and perform repetitive actions.

Customers include major automakers and technology companies: contracts were signed by BYD, Geely Auto, FAW-Volkswagen, Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor, and Foxconn, which are counting on stable 24/7 operation without constant human supervision. Individual projects are estimated at hundreds of millions of yuan: one customer in China signed a deal for 250 million yuan ($35.3 million), another in Sichuan province — for 159 million ($22.5 million), and another industrial project in Guangxi — for 126 million ($17.8 million).

A little more about Walker S2

Walker S2 is a tall bipedal humanoid with «human» joints capable of holding heavy objects and at the same time performing precise finger manipulations. The main feature of the model is a quick battery replacement system: the robot itself removes and changes the battery in a few minutes, without the operator’s participation. This minimizes downtime and makes the continuous operation format more realistic for real factories, and not just for demonstration videos. According to the company, the share of humanoids in UBTech’s total sales has increased from about 10% last year to 30% in 2025.

Financial indicators confirm the trend. In the first half of 2025, UBTech received 621 million yuan ($87.7 million) in revenue, which is 27,5% more than a year earlier, gross profit increased to 217 million yuan ($30.7 million), and losses decreased by 18,5% to 440 million yuan ($62.2 million). On the stock market, the company added more than 150% of its value, its shares rose to 133 Hong Kong dollars, and analysts Citi and JPMorgan maintain a «buy» recommendation with a price above 170. UBTech became the first robotics issuer on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2023, and the current mass supply of Walker S2 consolidates its status as one of the leaders in the race of industrial humanoids, which is closely monitored in both the EU and Ukraine.

Previously, dev.ua wrote about how the Chinese company UBTech Robotics taught its Walker S2 robot to replace its battery on its own. It approaches the charging station, removes the battery from its chest, inserts it into the charging dock, and then installs a new one.
