«I would say maybe 20%, 30% of the code that’s in our repositories today, and some of our projects, probably all of it, is written by software,» Nadella said during a live audience with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg as they both spoke at Meta’s first AI developer event, LlamaCon, in Menlo Park, California, according to CNBC. Nadella also added that the amount of code written by AI at Microsoft is growing.
When Nadella countered Zuckerberg about how much of Meta’s code comes from AI, the Meta CEO said he didn’t know the exact number off the top of his head. But he added that Meta is building an AI model that could, in turn, power future versions of the company’s Llama family of AI models.
«We’re predicting that next year, probably… maybe half of the development will be done by AI, not humans, and then that number will just grow,» Zuckerberg said.
About a month ago, it was reported that Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, the maker of the Claude series of models, made a startling prediction about the future of coding. During a discussion, he suggested that the rapid development of artificial intelligence could lead to the near-total absorption of coding tasks within the next year.
