«We have no income in Ukraine. Our initial strategy is to make a product company from Ukraine to the world. In Ukraine, Genesis works more for charity. We have opened free access to most of our products here. We are one of the most important donors to Ukrainian education — we invest over $1 million a year, have created several courses. Education is a long-term problem that will affect our industry,» the top manager said in an interview with Forbes.
Analyzing the challenges for entrepreneurs during a full-scale war, he named one of the main challenges as a short planning horizon.
«Usually, up to six months. The lack of long-term planning is bad, and I don’t know people who have successfully solved this problem. This, of course, affects all medium- and long-term projects and investments,» Mnogoletny noted.
Despite the fact that, according to Mnogoletny, Genesis does not receive any income in Ukraine, only about 15% of the company’s employees currently work abroad.
«We do not systematically build operations abroad because we understand that we can hire here. Many managers stayed in place to be with the team. No more than 15% of our employees work abroad. This, according to my estimates, is less than in other IT companies,» says the CEO of Genesis.
According to Mnogoletny, there is no business that a full-scale war would not affect in the long term.
«However, entrepreneurs are dealing with the situation normally, sometimes with humor — everyone continues to live and work. Business is the only economic entity that continues to do something in the country. I do not believe in the arrival of any international funds and their investments. The country should be rebuilt by the people who work in it,» he concludes.
As dev.ua recently wrote, Genesis is opening an office in Lviv for 100 specialists.
According to the latest DOU data, Evoplay is the largest product company in Ukraine by the number of technical specialists. Ajax Systems and Genesis are in second and third place, with the same number of technical specialists.
