A Ukrainian designer created muno — an application for creating your own dictionary with automatic translation and voiceover
UI/UX designer Georgy Gahokidze created muno, an iPhone app that helps you create flashcards for learning foreign words. To create a flashcard, simply enter the word itself, and the app automatically adds the translation, IPA transcription, and pronunciation.
UI/UX designer Georgy Gahokidze created muno, an iPhone app that helps you create flashcards for learning foreign words. To create a flashcard, simply enter the word itself, and the app automatically adds the translation, IPA transcription, and pronunciation.
You can also organize words into your own decks, for example, by book, TV series, or topic, and review them in flashcard format. If a user marks a word as learned three times within four days, muno will automatically move it to the appropriate section. There are also ready-made sets of frequently used words by topic and level from A1 to C1.
muno currently supports eight languages: English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, and Ukrainian.
Muno is primarily designed for words that you encounter throughout the day: in a book, TV series, subtitles, or in class. This is what sets it apart from another well-known app, Quizlet, which has similar functionality, but requires you to create a separate learning set and manually fill in the card. Muno, on the other hand, can fill in the card automatically.
The free version of muno lets you add up to 30 new words per month and learn one language. The Unlimited subscription removes the word limit and unlocks all eight languages. It costs $3.99 per month or $24.99 per year. There is a seven-day trial period for the annual subscription.
