According to NV Business, citing the investment platform Barchart, the average revenue per employee at OnlyFans is $37.6 million. For comparison: NVIDIA has $3.6 million per employee, Cursor — $3.3 million, Apple — $2.4 million, Meta — $2.2 million. Barchart called OnlyFans «the most efficient company in terms of revenue in the world» and called on competitors to improve their results.
«Revenue per employee» is gross revenue divided by the number of full-time employees. The metric doesn’t take into account the army of contractors or content creators, so relatively small companies with high margins can show extremely high values. This works in favor of the OnlyFans platform model: the main costs go to infrastructure support, moderation, and payments, while content production falls on the creators.
Traditional tech companies have tens or hundreds of thousands of employees and extensive product lines, which dilutes «revenue per person.» At OnlyFans, monetization is directly tied to the activity of content creators and subscriber payments, and the staff remains relatively small. Therefore, on a level of pure arithmetic, the platform looks «more efficient,» although this is not the same as operational productivity, R&D, or overall profitability of the business.
Barchart’s ranking shows how platform models are changing classic «revenue/staff» comparisons. This lens helps to understand why niche players sometimes outperform corporations on performance metrics, but it is no substitute for a comprehensive assessment — taking into account profitability, growth costs, and regulatory risks.
Despite the lack of legal regulation and the criminalization of pornography, Ukrainians achieved record financial performance on the Onlyfans platform in 2023.
