Questionnaire, voicemail, and contract before the first call: IT professionals discuss suspicious hiring from a company on Djinni

Job seekers in the IT sector are increasingly faced with anomalous requirements in the early stages of recruitment. Frontend developer Vadym Kulinich sparked a discussion online about how, simply by responding to a vacancy, you can find yourself one step away from transferring your personal data and signing incomprehensible agreements before even contacting a recruiter.

The situation unfolded after the developer applied for a JS programmer vacancy on the Djinni platform from the company potuzhno.agency.

Questionnaire, voice and "General Agreement"

According to Vadym Kulinich, the selection process from the very beginning looked atypical and resembled automated data collection rather than classic recruiting.

"First, the usual questions. Nothing suspicious. Then a questionnaire where you need to indicate your full name, phone number, date of birth and email. Then record a voice self-presentation directly on the site - 40-60 seconds about yourself, experience and career goals. And after that, you are offered to go to a separate portal and confirm the "General Agreement on Operational Cooperation" along with a package of regulations," the developer shares on LinkedIn.

The main thing that alarmed the IT worker was the complete lack of communication with real people and transparency regarding the legal entity of the employer.

“Sounds like a corporate onboarding process? Maybe, but there is a nuance: who exactly is collecting my data, why, and what am I actually confirming? There is no live conversation, there is no office, it is not known who it is and what it is… I am not saying that this is a scam — I have no evidence. But I believe that this sequence of actions deserves attention and verification. The candidate should trust the employer, but should he do it blindly?” Vadim emphasizes.

He added that he stopped the selection process at the stage of signing the agreement, noting: "I'm not talking about the terms in the agreement, there's just space there...".

The community confirms: this is not an isolated case

In the comments to the post, IT professionals noted that the same vacancy from potuzhno.agency has already attracted the attention of many job seekers, and some of them have encountered similar algorithms.

UX/UI designer Katherine Rudenok shared her experience with the same company: “I applied for a job, and then I automatically received a message asking me to send my CV on Telegram. After a day of silence, they suddenly sent me a situational test with the request: “After passing the test, send the code that will appear at the end.” This seemed extremely suspicious. As a result, I simply deleted the chat and decided not to continue. This is the most strange selection process when you haven’t even talked to a live person, and you already have to send codes.”

Junior UX/UI designer Nick Semenik drew attention to the visual design and questionable conditions of the vacancy: “The site looked as if it had been made in one prompt at Claude. Then I decided to look at their other vacancies on Djinni, and the high salary amounts alarmed me — given the appearance of the site, it clearly didn’t match. At that moment, something inside stopped me from moving forward.”

Frontend engineer Ihor Shtyka noted that he ignored the offer because of the strange requirements in the description: "I didn't find anything about the company, and the name is strange. Also, "neither framework, nor experience" is alarming. But if someone wants to collect data, they can create a more adequate vacancy. So it's better to think about cyber hygiene: don't add your main email, phone number, or passport details to your resume."

According to developer Nataliia Semeshenko, users have repeatedly sent complaints about this company to the moderators of the Djinni platform.

At the time of publication, the vacancy was already inactive.

Employment-pretending schemes: from data collection to referrals

The participants in the discussion emphasize that against the backdrop of a complex IT market, schemes with pseudo-vacancies are becoming more common.

AI Content Creator Olha (Olha M.) shared another example of manipulation under the guise of hiring: "There are a lot of scammers playing on the market right now. I recently came across a vacancy for a tester, and there is just a referral for a banking application. You are supposedly passing test cases, and at the same time you are registering with the bank, for which the scammers receive 300 UAH for each naive candidate. Be very careful."
