The Ministry of Defense, together with partners, determined the location and visited the location of the future testing ground for testing new demining technologies using AI.
The project will become the basis for the formation of a coordination platform for innovations in humanitarian demining, the ministry’s website reported. It is also planned that the modern landfill will accelerate humanitarian demining, increase the safety of deminers, and reduce risks to the civilian population.
The location was inspected by representatives of the Main Directorate for Mine Action, Civil Protection and Environmental Safety, the United Nations Development Program, the Ministry of Economy, and the National Association of Defense Industries.
Representative of the Main Department of Mine Action, Olga Drobot, reported that the Ministry of Defense, together with partners, identified key areas of further work and made a decision to create a training and testing complex for the development of the latest technologies in the field of mine action at the innovative testing ground.
The next step is to create a roadmap, form a working group, and prepare for the first tests.
In addition, it recently became known that the Ministry of Defense is initiating the creation of an «innovation hub» to combine efforts in implementing the latest technologies for demining the deoccupied territories of Ukraine.
