Ratel Robotics adds fiber optic FPV drone launch platform to Ratel H
The Ukrainian Ratel H NRC received a mounted module that allows it to bring FPV drones with fiber-optic control to the launch point and launch them without the crew entering a dangerous position.
The Ukrainian Ratel H NRC received a mounted module that allows it to bring FPV drones with fiber-optic control to the launch point and launch them without the crew entering a dangerous position.
According to Military, the manufacturer Ratel Robotics showed a video with a new configuration of the complex and described the kit as a drone launch platform (DLP). The platform accommodates up to four fiber-optic FPV drones of various sizes and integrates into the basic configuration of the Ratel H, while maintaining its mobility and cross-country ability. The idea is to deliver drones to a remote/risky area and launch them «from the wheels», minimizing the need for people to go to the launch site and deploy a position under fire.
The company emphasizes that fiber-optic control in combination with a ground platform increases the stability of control during task performance and reduces vulnerability to electronic warfare, since the control channel does not depend on radio communication. According to the developers, the PPD is already undergoing testing and is being «adjusted» to the requirements of units operating with the complex in combat conditions.
Ratel H is positioned as a multi-purpose ground robot for front-line logistics and evacuation. It is used to deliver equipment/ammunition and transport cargo weighing up to 400 kg. Also announced is work at night thanks to infrared headlights and night vision cameras, a range of up to 60 km and a range of up to 50 km. The installation of the PPD actually adds another role to the complex — a mobile «launch point» for FPV in combined operations, where the ground platform delivers ammunition, and aerial drones work on targets.
Previously, dev.ua wrote about how the Ukrainian manufacturer of robotic ground platforms RATEL showed off the new Ratel X drone, which was designed as a completely updated machine for the needs of the modern battlefield, and not as another modification of previous models.
