The founder and CEO of the Stfalcon IT company Stepan Tanasiychuk told dev.ua about how he technologically organized a special operation to disrupt the speech of the so-called Russian opposition leader Yulia Navalny at the Web Summit technical conference in Lisbon.
"We agreed that all participants of the promotion will sign up for the test region in the application. When the performance began, I turned on the alarm on the test. The phones rang and some people began to leave, while others remained in the hall. I turned it on/off like that for 10 minutes and accordingly the siren called periodically," said the interlocutor.
He added that this action stressed the rest of the people in the hall (especially the Russians), and it also prevented them from writing videos (many of them could be heard feeling anxious).
"Next, Ukrainians started shouting from the hall that Russia is a terrorist state. She stopped the performance and called a girl from the hall, who on the stage asked into the microphone about the attitude to the war," said Stepan Tanasiychuk.
Navalny replied that it was a "strange question" for her, not daring to accuse Russia of attacking Ukraine. But she repeated that she is against Putin's regime and talked about her husband Oleksii Navalny.
The organizer of the action was the activist Khrystyna Zhuk, who, on the eve of the Russian woman's performance, called on Ukrainians to come to the performance in order to disrupt it.
Navalny's speech took place on November 12 and covered two topics. The first is "Dictators and Digital Dissent", the second is "Resisting Autocrats".
At 14:00 on November 12, a post appeared that the action was successful: Navalny's speech was interrupted, and the activists thanked everyone who took part in the flash mob.
The "Air Alarm" application was developed by Ajax Systems and Stfalcon with the support of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.
In 2022, the voice of the former adviser to the president's office, Oleksiy Arestovich, was used for voiceover in the application, but the developers noticed a certain outflow of users.
In July 2023, the developers reported that thanks to the "Air Alarm" application from Ajax Systems and Stfalcon, they managed to collect more than 10 million UAH, which were directed to the "Army of Drones" project.
In February of this year, Air Alert was updated to version 6.0, which will now send warnings of increased danger in selected cities and communities. In addition, currently with its help you can receive warnings about missile strikes, artillery fire, street battles, radiation, chemical threats, natural disasters and important notifications from OVA and Civil Defense of Ukraine. And also psychological self-help techniques.
The application has already been downloaded more than 26 million times and is actively used by more than 6 million users. It has become a convenient and reliable tool for informing about the dangers in Ukraine.
