According to TechCrunch, Salesforce released an updated Slackbot on Tuesday and made it available to Business+ and Enterprise+ customers. The company positions the tool as an «agent» that can find information in work materials, create drafts of emails and messages, and schedule meetings without leaving Slack.
A separate focus in this version is on working «between services.» Slackbot can connect to other corporate products and search for information there if the user grants access. The article mentions integrations with Microsoft Teams and Google Drive, so that a person can collect the necessary data in one window, rather than manually flipping through several systems.
Salesforce CTO Parker Harris told TechCrunch that it’s actually a different product, but the Slackbot name was kept for recognition. He said the company spent months testing the tool with its own employees, and the updated Slackbot became the most widely adopted internal product without any management pressure. Harris also said he wants Slackbot to be «viral,» like ChatGPT.
In the future, Salesforce plans to expand Slackbot’s usage scenarios, including adding voice capabilities and working «side by side» with the user while browsing the Internet.
