American startup Anthropic has raised $13 billion in a new funding round, raising its valuation to $183 billion and making it one of the world’s most valuable artificial intelligence startups.
The deal was led by ICONIQ, Fidelity Management & Research Company and Lightspeed Venture Partners, the company said in a press release. Other participants include BlackRock, Blackstone, General Atlantic, Goldman Sachs Alternatives, Insight Partners, Qatar Investment Authority and more than a dozen other leading global investment funds.
Founded in 2021 by former OpenAI employees, Anthropic positions itself as a company that focuses on safe and managed AI development. The startup’s main product: the Claude language model, launched in 2023. In two years, it has provided explosive business growth. If at the beginning of 2025 the company’s annual revenue was about $1 billion, then in August it exceeded $5 billion. The number of corporate clients reached more than 300 thousand, and the number of large contracts increased sevenfold in a year.
A major growth driver was Claude Code, which went public in May 2025 and generated over $500 million in annual revenue in just three months. The product’s popularity among developers is due to its ease of integration and extensive capabilities for coding automation.
The company says it plans to use the investment to meet enterprise demand, expand its international presence, and strengthen security research.
«We are seeing exponential growth in demand across our entire product portfolio. This funding confirms investors’ confidence in our track record and in Anthropic’s ability to shape responsible AI development,» said CFO Krishna Rao.
Competition between leading developers of LLM models continues on the global market. OpenAI, Google DeepMind and Anthropic form the «big three» in the field of generative AI. This story is also important for Ukraine: it was Anthropic that launched localized support for the Ukrainian language in Claude in August, which allows Ukrainian developers and companies to more quickly integrate modern AI solutions into their own products.
