According to the analytical service SteamDB, a new peak was recorded on Sunday, October 11. At that moment, 43,505,616 people (or approximately 43.5 million) were simultaneously on the platform, reports Windows Central.
This is almost 819,000 more than the previous record of 42.68 million users, which was set in March 2026. Thus, it took Valve only seven months to surpass its own figures again.
Interestingly, during peak load, only about a third of the total number of users were actually playing games. The remaining two-thirds were logged in, chatting, purchasing games, or keeping the Steam client open in the background.
The main drivers of activity traditionally remain time-tested multiplayer hits:
Counter-Strike 2: daily peak exceeded 1.4 million players;
Dota 2: crossed the 1 million concurrent users mark;
PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS: attracted over 700,000 players during peak hours.
In addition to the classic leaders, new releases also provided a significant influx of audience - in particular, AION 2 and WARDOGS demonstrate notable results in terms of the number of players. However, analysts note that the record update is the result of the overall growth of the PC gaming ecosystem, and not the release of any one individual title.
