The Lviv Electronmash plant has launched production of a new model of the E181 electric bus, which combines compact dimensions with high capacity and modern technical solutions.
As reported by Dmytro Kysylevsky, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Economic Development, the launch was made possible thanks to the state localization policy «Made in Ukraine». It was this policy that stimulated the Electron concern to invest in research, development, and the launch of mass production.
The Electron E181 model is 10.2 meters long and can carry up to 90 passengers, 30 of whom are seated. There is also a special place for a person in a wheelchair. One battery charge is enough for 300–350 km of range, and a full charge takes up to 5 hours. In addition, the electric bus is equipped with a recuperation system, which allows you to return some of the energy during braking.
The manufacturer emphasizes that the localization of the model exceeds 40%. This means that in addition to the Lviv enterprises of the concern, more than 250 Ukrainian suppliers of components and components from different regions of the country are involved in the production. As a result, thousands of additional jobs have been created throughout Ukraine.
Among the advantages for customers are service from the manufacturer and the possibility of individual adaptation of the machines to specific needs. This makes the E181 a competitive solution for Ukrainian cities that are modernizing public transport.
The «Made in Ukraine» policy was introduced in 2022 and includes a localization requirement in public procurement. It has already given an impetus to a number of enterprises to invest in their own production and expand the range of high-value-added equipment. According to experts, such projects with a multiplier effect should continue to be at the center of state support for the development of mechanical engineering and the processing industry.
Previously, dev.ua wrote about how the famous Ukrainian car designer Roman Pryadko published the first renderings of the new electric car MEGO. This is a compact microvan with a design reminiscent of the technology of the future. According to the author, the car is intended for daily city trips in the new era of electromobility.
