Motor-G has introduced a specialized VANDAL electric motor for high-speed interceptor drones weighing 3-5 kg. The new product was created for high loads and has already been tested on several types of such UAVs.
As reported by «Military», Motor-G Executive Director Oleksiy Hrebin said that VANDAL was developed on the basis of another engine of the company, so adaptation to the new request did not take much time. According to him, the team saw the need of the front in time and finalized the solution for interceptors, for which this engine had not been used before.
A little more about Motor-G
This is a Ukrainian manufacturer of components for unmanned systems. In recent months, interest in high-speed interceptor drones has been growing in Ukraine as a response to enemy reconnaissance and strike UAVs. Against this background, engines optimized for high loads, rapid acceleration, and mass production are becoming a separate niche in the defense market.
The key feature of VANDAL is not only in power, but also in design. The engine has received parameters designed specifically for operation in modes where conventional motors are already practically reaching their limits. In particular, the length of the shaft allows you to install a propeller with a large pitch, which is necessary for fast flight. During tests on an interceptor drone, the system has already shown a speed of over 350 km/h.
The company also reduced the resistance of the windings and increased the efficiency of the engine to increase the working radius of the interceptor and leave a power reserve at maximum acceleration. Separately, Motor-G is preparing deeper localization of production: according to Greben, from May the stators for this engine should become 100% Ukrainian.
The starting price of VANDAL is approximately UAH 2,000 per unit, but the company expects it to decrease as batches increase. This is important for the interceptor segment, where the cost of components directly affects the scalability of front-line solutions.
