Ukrainian developers submitted 18 air defense missile systems and 4 tactical ballistic missiles to Brave1 grant competitions
The government’s Brave1 defense cluster has received a wave of applications from Ukrainian teams working on anti-aircraft missile systems for shooting down drones and tactical ballistics. Some of the projects are designed to meet the military’s need for cheaper interception of «shaheeds», while others are designed to increase the ability to hit targets deep in the enemy’s defenses.
This was reported by the Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov on his Facebook. He noted that Ukrainian developers have submitted 18 projects of anti-aircraft missile systems to combat UAVs and 4 more developments of tactical ballistic missiles to the Brave1 grant competitions. Both areas meet the needs of the Defense Forces: affordable complexes for mass interception of drones and their own ballistic means of destroying warehouses, logistics and other objects important to the enemy are needed.
SAM projects should give the military a tool to cover infrastructure and units from drones in places where the use of expensive air defense missiles is economically unjustified. These are systems that can be deployed in large numbers, used closer to the front line, and quickly adapt to changes in enemy tactics.
Tactical ballistic missiles are considered a means of targeted strikes on ammunition depots, logistics centers, command posts, and other high-value targets. The goal of these developments is to provide the Armed Forces of Ukraine with weapons capable of delivering decisive strikes on sensitive elements of the Russian military machine, reducing its ability to wage war at long distances.
In this context, Brave1 grant competitions become a mechanism to support precisely such complex and science-intensive solutions. Funding will be provided to teams that can bring their developments to the level of a finished product manufactured according to the technical specifications of the military, undergo the necessary tests, and prepare for possible mass production.
