Unicorn School launches free AI Lab program for students, parents, and teachers

The AI Laboratory educational program from Unicorn School started as a free online course on artificial intelligence for students in grades 8-11, their parents, and teachers.
According to Unicorn School, the initiative is supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The program combines several courses and is intended to transform the use of AI in schools from informal and chaotic to guided and conscious.
The reason for the launch was a situation where high school students are already actively using AI to complete tasks, but without clear rules. Schools often lack guidelines, and teachers often try to limit the tools instead of integrating them into the educational process.
There are two levels of training for students. The basic course introduces the capabilities of AI and teaches how to work with tools, create content, and formulate queries. The advanced level explains how models work, why they make mistakes, and how to get more accurate results.
Separate directions have been created for parents and teachers. Parents are explained the line between AI assistance and cheating, and teachers are shown how to use the tools to prepare lessons, tests, and teaching materials without losing the quality of teaching.
Organizers plan to reach thousands of participants in the first year. Participation is free, and all materials are available online. You can register at the link .
In fact, the program solves a specific problem that schools have already faced: students use AI regardless of the teacher’s position. In such a situation, prohibitions do not work, so the key question shifts from «whether to allow» to «how to use it correctly.» That is why educational systems in different countries are moving to models with clear rules, examples of application and training of teachers. The Ukrainian initiative fits into this trend and tries to close the gap between the real use of technologies and school approaches to learning.
Previously, dev.ua wrote about how Google Ukraine, with the support of the Ministry of Economy, is launching the third wave of free training in artificial intelligence. 20,000 Ukrainians will gain access to the Google Certification in Professional Use of AI program on Coursera.
