As Engadget reports, during the Adobe Max conference, the companies confirmed that a separate Premiere mobile mode will work inside Shorts: authors will be able to cut clips, change speed and color, remove unnecessary things, and also add «smart» effects and sounds generated by AI. There will also be «exclusives» for Shorts, namely: collections of effects, presets and transitions, as well as ready-made templates for vertical formats or the ability to create your own and share them with others. The launch is promised «soon», but there are no detailed dates yet.
Premiere mobile is now available on iOS: creators need to export their videos to YouTube separately to post. The integration removes that extra step, allowing editing and publishing to happen without leaving Shorts. According to Adobe CTO Eli Greenfield, YouTube is «the biggest stage in the world,» and bringing Premiere-level tools «will help creators stand out and reach new audiences.»
Separately, Adobe is testing «Project Moonlight,» a hub that will connect assistants from different apps and read the author’s style from connected social networks. The company is also exploring integrating Adobe Express with ChatGPT via the OpenAI App Integrations API to collect designs directly in chat.
Previously, creators used the built-in Shorts editor or third-party programs. The appearance of Premiere directly in Shorts raises the bar for vertical video quality: professional editing, color correction, masks and generative tools become standard «out of the box». However, it is also interesting to know when the innovations will reach Android, how quickly the «exclusive» effects will work and whether YouTube will allow flexible control of export settings and codecs for demanding authors.
