Finland invests 30 million euros in the modernization of Ukrainian telecom networks: partnership signed by Vodafone, Nokia and Finnvera
Ukraine will receive 30 million euros for the development of telecom infrastructure from the Finnish export agency Finnvera. This was announced during the Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine, which took place in Rome. The investment is being implemented in partnership with Vodafone Ukraine and Nokia to enhance the resilience of communications during shelling and blackouts.
Ukraine will receive 30 million euros for the development of telecom infrastructure from the Finnish export agency Finnvera. This was announced during the Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine, which took place in Rome. The investment is being implemented in partnership with Vodafone Ukraine and Nokia to enhance the resilience of communications during shelling and blackouts.
As the Ministry of Digital Affairs reports on its Telegram channel, the signed memorandum provides for three-year cooperation with an emphasis on:
expansion of 4G coverage and GPON networks;
increasing the security of telecom networks in critical conditions;
technical preparation for the implementation of new telecommunications standards.
Vodafone and Nokia will jointly define infrastructure renewal priorities. Finnvera will provide financing for Nokia equipment and services worth up to €30 million.
The partners emphasize that the main goal is to make mobile and fixed communications as reliable as possible even in the most difficult circumstances. This is not only about convenience for users, but also about the critical ability to call for help, stay in touch with loved ones, and keep businesses running.
With the outbreak of full-scale war, mobile operators are actively looking for ways to increase the resilience of networks to shelling and prolonged power outages. Finnvera’s investment demonstrates increased European support for Ukraine’s digital transformation.
