The PlayCity state agency fined three Instagram bloggers (UAH 4.8 million each) for systematically promoting illegal online casinos in Stories.
As the head of the agency, Gennady Novikov, reported in a Facebook post, the violations concern the accounts @gilka_oleksandra, @lidiya_roma, and @konstantynova.vladyslava. Social media monitoring recorded a series of stories with «winnings,» emotional appeals to «try your luck,» and referral links disguised as «for mine» or «take it for yourself.»
The agency believes that such advertising misleads people: the content had signs of fake «successes» and formed a positive image of gambling. The risk of reaching minors was particularly emphasized, since Stories are often viewed by audiences under 18. A fine of ₴4.8 million was imposed for each of the violations identified. The agency asks to send examples of suspicious advertising to [email protected] to speed up the response.
Gambling advertising in Ukraine is permitted only if clear rules are followed: appeals to minors, promises of «easy» money, disguising promotions as «advice» or «personal experience», as well as the promotion of illegal services are prohibited. Violations result in fines and blocking of materials. PlayCity adds that they work with repeated cases systematically and are ready to interact with gaming platforms.
Previously, dev.ua wrote about how the state agency PlayCity fined blogger Dariana Koretska UAH 4.8 million for illegally advertising an online casino. The BEB’s check proved that the «winnings» were fictitious.
