Lithuanian company RSI Europe has delivered a batch of innovative Shpak drones equipped with a fiber-optic control system to the Ukrainian military. These UAVs are designed for precision strikes at long distances and are ready for combat use.
According to Militaryi, the latest Shpak drones combine the flexibility of artillery with the precision of anti-tank guided missiles. The main characteristics are: stable operation at different frequencies, remote activation of the charge, as well as resistance to electronic warfare due to the absence of radio signals.
RSI Europe founder Tomas Milashauskas explained that drones are particularly effective in situations where high precision is required — in particular, against equipment that is under the cover of electronic warfare. According to him, it is not a universal weapon, but in combination with radio-controlled UAVs it creates a strong combination.
The company conducts extensive testing of each component before combat use. Due to the novelty of fiber-optic technology, RSI Europe conducts dozens, and sometimes hundreds, of tests in controlled conditions before sending drones to the front.
Although the company does not manufacture its own optical fiber, it is considering partnerships with Lithuanian and Ukrainian manufacturers. In addition, RSI has created a version of Shpak that is independent of Chinese components: key radio-electronic modules, including video transmitters, controllers and communication modules, are manufactured in-house.
FPV drones, particularly those based on optical control, are playing an increasingly important role in modern warfare. Ukraine has become a testing ground for new approaches to remote attack on equipment and fortifications. Support from partners such as RSI Europe allows us to accelerate the modernization of weapons and strengthen the technological potential of the Ukrainian army.
