After the announcement on the morning of March 28 that the online ticket sales service of Ukrzaliznytsia had again become unavailable due to a technical failure, from which the company has been recovering since March 23, today, March 29, Ukrzaliznytsia announced that the service is working stably.

The UZ website and application were restored after 89 hours of non-stop work after an unprecedented attack on the railway’s key operating systems. The day before, Ukrzaliznytsia warned of possible disruptions in the ticket sales service due to peak system loads.

«We ask passengers to use the application for now, primarily if there is a need for urgent travel. We continue to work on restoring the IT infrastructure of Ukrzaliznytsia!», the carrier was urged .

On the morning of March 28, technical difficulties really arose — the scoreboard on the Ukrzaliznytsia website practically does not work, the route search works intermittently, and when trying to purchase a ticket, the site gives an error.

«You can purchase tickets for all domestic trains, as well as international trains departing on March 26 and 27, at Ukrzaliznytsia ticket offices at train stations,» UZ reported.

Passengers who are unable to download their ticket from Ukrzaliznytsia services are advised by the company to check their email — the PDF ticket should be duplicated there. If this is not possible, passengers are recommended to arrive for boarding 20 minutes before the train departs.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Board of UZ Oleksandr Pertsovsky recalled that IT specialists have been restoring Ukrzaliznytsia’s systems for the fourth day after a large-scale attack.

«The ticket purchasing application has already been launched. It is currently being gradually stabilized and its functionality is being restored. In parallel, teams are also working on restoring systems related to freight traffic, our internal operational, HR, financial and other systems,» he said.

UPD 28.03.2025 from 1:00 PM. Ukrzaliznytsia reported that the failure in the online ticket sales service is still ongoing due to increased load on the system.

«To balance demand, we are opening additional ticket offices in cities with the largest passenger traffic. There are currently 27 ticket offices operating in Kyiv: 25 at the Central Station and two additional ones at the Southern Station. Ticket office areas in Lviv have also been strengthened: now there are 10 ticket offices operating at the station,» UZ said .

The company added that «station angels» continue to work in the ticket offices, advising passengers on purchasing, returning tickets, and boarding the train. Ukrzaliznytsia assured that its IT team is working around the clock to minimize the consequences of disruptions.

UPD 29.03.2025 at 2:44 PM. «Ukrzaliznytsia’s online ticket sales services are operating stably,» the company said .

Ukrzaliznytsia also stated that the services moved to a new platform overnight, built protection, and are actively restoring additional functionality.

«Travel planning with transfers is now available again in the mobile application, and online boards with station-by-station train schedules will be updated one by one throughout the day,» the company explained.

The message also emphasized that there were no queues at the station ticket offices, everything was calm.

Oleksandr Pertsovsky also added that in the future, Ukrzaliznytsia will restore the functions beloved by passengers one by one: monitoring, online scoreboard, integration with databases of preferential users and «Army+», ordering group transportation, a bonus program, and much more.

As a reminder, on Sunday morning, March 23, Ukrzaliznytsia reported a failure in the company’s IT system. The company did not immediately indicate the reasons for the failure. In the morning, the chairman of the board of UZ admitted that an unprecedented cyberattack was carried out on the servers and IT resources of Ukrzaliznytsia — targeted, complex and multi-level. Online services are still not working.

Cyber ​​experts also gave their first assessments of a large-scale hacker attack on the servers and IT infrastructure of Ukrzaliznytsia.

Chairman of the Board of UZ Oleksandr Pertsovsky said that the company is implementing compensation packages for passengers.

The company was able to partially restore services on the morning of March 27. However, passengers are still complaining about their incorrect operation.
