How to behave so as not to pass the interview, or what not to do if a candidate wants to get the dream offer

Middle Manual QA Engineer Adelina Voropai shared some tips on how to avoid an interview. She was triggered by candidates who don’t prepare for the interview. Most likely, those who want to go through an interview and don’t want the recruiter to end it early should do the opposite.

So, how to fail an interview:

  1. Don’t prepare yourself, what kind of questions might they ask you? You’re not being interviewed by someone with 10 years of experience, what kind of questions might they ask you? Better play computer games, you already know everything after the courses.
  2. Don’t answer clearly posed questions, stretch and deviate from the topic. They asked you how you want to develop in your field? And you tell me about your cat, that’s more interesting 🐈
  3. Be late or don’t turn on the camera. Don’t warn that you’ll be late, they’ll wait for you anyway, and what else can the interviewer do, he has a lot of time. And when you arrive, don’t turn on the camera, you should be chosen for your knowledge, not your appearance.
  4. Start arguing and proving your point when you are told that you answered incorrectly (Trainee/Junior version). You are not being interviewed by people with 20 years of experience, what they might know, you are a different matter — you just finished the courses, of course you know more.
  5. Don’t read about the company before the interview. Why would you want to know anything about the company or projects, if it doesn’t matter to you where you’ll be working?
  6. Stay silent for a long time if you don’t know the answer to a question. If you say you forgot or don’t know the answer, or ask for a hint, it immediately shows that you are not experienced (no).
  7. Lie about your experience. Who will know? You will be immediately believed and hired.
