The design and production enterprise «Ukrainian Armored Vehicles» announced that its promising aircraft-type FPV drone, designed to deliver warheads over long distances, will use a domestic internal combustion engine.
According to Military, the company showed the product parameters at the World Defense Show 2026 and specified that it is a two-cylinder ICE UA2.120. Among the declared characteristics: engine weight 2400 g (exhaust system 300 g), power 12 hp and working volume 120 cm³. Also announced is a static thrust of 26.5 kg at an altitude of 100 m and 23.5 kg at 1800 m.
The company expects that these indicators will be enough to use warheads based on a 105-mm artillery shell or a 120-mm mortar mine and operate at a range of over 100 km. The UB120W platform is not considered as a separate UAV, but as a complex: along with the strike drones, a ground control station, a launch catapult and a trailer should be supplied.
Approximate flight data of the UB120W: maximum take-off weight up to 50 kg, wingspan 2.5 m, length 2.7 m, maximum speed 120–130 km/h, cruising 80–90 km/h. Communication is declared as a radio channel with satellite backup and automatic switching in case of signal loss. Additionally, the installation of additional guidance is being considered, as well as a scenario using the drone as a false target for air defense overload. The first tests, according to preliminary plans, are expected in a few months.
The long-range FPV segment is rapidly moving towards catapult-launched aircraft platforms with redundant control channels. This provides better scalability for mass production and increases mission survivability when the enemy tries to shoot down or jam communications en route.
