Recruiter Kateryna Kokhanska told about a 30-minute interview with a Senior Fullstack Developer with an expected salary of up to $5,000. In this case, there would be nothing special if the candidate was not in the kitchen, and in the background there were sounds of opening/closing the refrigerator, pots, frying, and rustling of packages. Such a house became a signal for the recruiter. But do IT professionals agree that this situation can be a reason for rejection?

Fears and pains of QA in 2025. AI, crazy demands and more: what's really scary and inspiring about testing?
My name is Oleksandr, I am a Lead SDET with over 10 years of experience in software testing. I have been teaching at Hillel IT School for over six years, where I have the opportunity not only to share knowledge, but also to observe the evolution of the tester profession in dynamics. In this article, I want to share my own observations, experience and thoughts on what is happening with the QA profession in 2025: what challenges are facing us, what the market expects and what opportunities this time opens up for us.

Senior Software Engineer SoftServe Roman worked on one project for 10+ years. He liked this stability, but over time he felt deep fatigue and inner exhaustion — he wanted to rest, change the rhythm, find new meanings. When his project finally came to an end, Roman decided to take a sabbatical. At first, he thought it would be for a month or two, but in the end — from October to February. The first month he reflected a lot, spent time with his family. In the second — he allowed himself to simply relax, without pressure. Already from the third month of the break, Roman felt a desire to learn again, discover new technologies — in particular, develop in the field of Big Data. So he started looking for such opportunities in the company and soon joined a new project for the position of Big Data Software Engineer. And EVO specialist Natalia worked on an important project that required high involvement, frequent communication with various stakeholders, and constant focus. Over time, she began to feel strong emotional fatigue, lost motivation, and stopped rejoicing even in small victories. She turned to a corporate psychologist, with whom she had several individual sessions. In the process, they discovered that she was on the verge of burnout. Together with the leader, they agreed on a decision to take a long vacation to restore her resources and emotionally «reboot». After returning, Natalia returned to her duties and is now implementing an initiative that she had planned for a long time, but did not have the resources for. These two stories are about IT professionals who were burned out from super-intensive work and needed a break to regain strength and recharge. Such cases are not uncommon in Ukrainian IT. Due to workload, high level of responsibility, intensity and complexity of work, IT professionals often feel exhausted and lose productivity. The burnout epidemic in IT is a familiar phenomenon. So dev.ua asked key employers in the industry how companies monitor the psycho-emotional state of specialists and help them regain strength when they are on the verge of burnout.

Gen Z and Millennials: Different Approaches, One Team. How Can HR Set the Pace?
Every year I notice more and more: not only the market is changing, but also the people we work with. The rules of the game are no longer the same as they were a few years ago. If earlier the pipeline consisted mostly of millennials, predictable, structured, familiar with the «office» culture, now Gen Z is increasingly coming. And with them the rhythm, language of communication, and work demands are changing.

User Experience Researcher Olga G. sparked a heated debate on LinkedIn with her post about the value of experience. She recalled how an acquaintance in Canada refused to give quick advice without payment and offered his price instead. The incident prompted her to think: why do we often devalue the expertise of our acquaintances, and is it okay to ask an expert to «take a look» just like that?

"Work looks pretty good compared to life, which has turned into a dull gi*no." Experience and advice from IT professionals and experts on how to prevent, prevent and recover from burnout
Posts about situations of IT burnout continue to spread on social networks. And such stories are not isolated. Many questions arise in this regard, in particular: what are the causes of this burnout, how popular is this problem really now and how is it solved in IT companies? And also how to prevent burnout? How to diagnose a similar condition in yourself before the body enters a «steep peak» and what to do to get out of it? dev.ua dealt with all this with IT workers who have gone through it, managers and psychologists.
