Rafal Modzhevsky, the Polish co-founder of the Finnish company ICEYE, said that before the full-scale Russian invasion, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, offered to purchase the company’s microsatellite. The satellite images obtained twice disrupted the Russian plans in 2021-2022.

Two experienced Ukrainian specialists began researching solutions for reliable communication in conditions of high threats and active electronic warfare even before the start of a full-scale invasion, when it was not mainstream. Before starting to develop specific solutions, Yevhen Zhebko, with experience in building and managing hardware startups, and Anton Getman, an engineer with his own entrepreneurial experience, collected the pains and problems of communication and data transmission directly from the military. The developers told dev.ua how the Teletactica company came into being, what it took to start development, what makes its products impressive now, as well as about Chinese components and obtaining government orders.

The eyeWitness to Atrocities app, which was initiated by the International Bar Association (IBA), is virtually the same age as the Russia’s war on Ukraine that has been raging since 2014. Long before the full-scale war, a decade ago in fact, in 2015, the app was launched, while its development began as early as 2011. Meanwhile, since Russia’s full-scale invasion, millions of Ukrainians have massively been confronted not only with war crimes and their consequences, but also with a need to prove these crimes legally. After all, proving these facts is not only about some kind of high ‘justice’ in international courts decades later. This also means more commonplace tangible compensation and affirmation of their rights as victims and survivors right now. This is why the app is so crucial for Ukrainians today. 

In early February, it became known about the launch of the super project - "Drone Lines". At the first stage, it included five regiments and brigades that have proven their effectiveness on the battlefield. These are the 20th separate regiment "K-2", the 429th regiment "Achilles", the 427th regiment "RAROG", the 414th brigade "Birds of the Magyar" and the "Phoenix" regiment (the "Revenge" brigade). The initiator of the project itself was President Volodymyr Zelensky. The Ministry of Defense calls such collaboration "a new standard of war, where UAVs become a key element of combat operations". We talked with the participants of the association and tell how they intend to strengthen the combat capability of the Ukrainian army in it.
