How retail is losing billions due to human error and AI can fix it
When the plan does not match reality, retail loses billions. According to POI and McKinsey estimates, up to 35% of all sales losses in FMCG are related to the human factor: 25% — poor implementation of standards, 8-10% — out-of-stock products (absence of goods on the shelf, — editor’s note). Empty shelves in stores and costs are a mirror of a systemic problem in the industry: there are agreements, but retail is still built on the human factor and manual processes that cannot be controlled on a large scale.

Semen Nenashev is 27 years old. Talking about himself, he mentions several statuses: father, veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war, a person with a disability due to a combat injury, and a QA engineer. His biography includes an IT career, service in a strike UAV unit, a serious injury, and a return to civilian life with a disability. He does not romanticize the war and does not embellish his path. The veteran from Aiti shared with dev.ua his story not about «successful success,» but about a choice that haunts him.

Bitcoin is no longer "digital gold": the market votes with money. Why is the most popular coin getting cheaper and is it worth waiting for BTC to rise in price?
In early February 2026, Bitcoin (BTC) fell below the psychological levels of $80,000–75,000, trading around $76,000–$77,000 per coin — the lowest since mid-April 2025. According to market aggregators, the price of BTC has fallen by almost 30% in recent weeks from its October 2025 peaks, when the cryptocurrency broke through levels above $120,000.
This decline has brought Bitcoin to local lows, which were last observed in the medium term last year. Market observers call this a significant correction, which has been going on for several weeks, and daily trading volumes and investor interest have significantly decreased. We tell you what is happening in the dev.ua review.

"The steam is still coming out of my mouth." How Troyeshchyna lives without electricity, heat, and stable water, and why residents of high-rise buildings are advised to pour salt into toilets
This winter, the capital’s Troyeshchyna district is living in a mode that seemed unthinkable just a few years ago. After massive attacks on the energy infrastructure, the district is regularly left without electricity, heating, and water — sometimes for several hours, sometimes for a day or longer. The outage schedules are practically non-functional, the temperature in the apartments is rapidly dropping, and residents are forced to look for ways to survive in the city’s cold, realizing that there may be no electricity or heating for weeks.
Severe frosts are about to return to Ukraine, and the Troyes region risks facing a new challenge — freezing sewers. The head of the Desnyanskaya RDA, Maksym Bakhmatov, warned: if the sewers in high-rise buildings freeze, people will have to equip cesspools in their yards. His words seemed like an exaggeration to many, but the events of recent days have forced the residents of the Troyes region to look at such scenarios without irony. At the same time, some of the houses have already been connected to heating. This constantly adds challenges — it tears out old pipes, but at the same time it gives hope for warmth and relief.
Between these two poles — the fear of complete collapse and the joy of warm radiators — the daily life of the residents of the district passes. dev.ua talked to IT workers and a digital specialist who, despite the harsh conditions of survival, do not plan to leave their native microdistrict for now and are adapting to the harsh realities. About cold apartments, dark entrances, electric heaters, sleeping bags, mutual aid and creative ways of survival — further.

The cold winter is here. A selection of games that tell the story of survival in extreme cold
Blackouts lasting several days, -25 degrees below zero, constant shelling — Ukrainians are currently experiencing the most difficult winter since the full-scale invasion. In such times, attention should be paid to the mental state no less than the physical, and video games will help in this, as one of the best methods of escapism. We have prepared a selection of games about survival in extreme temperatures with today's realities, some of which can even be played on a smartphone.

Almost 900 Ukrainians have already received vouchers for IT education worth up to UAH 33,000 from the State Employment Service. How to do it and who is eligible
In 2023-2025, 883 Ukrainians received vouchers for training in IT specialties from the State Employment Service, which allowed some of them to restart their own careers in a new professional field and shine in IT. It is worth recognizing that IT is not one of the most popular areas of study among voucher recipients (in total, 67,000 vouchers have been issued for all professions since the beginning of martial law, so it is possible to compare these figures), but, nevertheless, it demonstrates stable demand. This is mainly about obtaining a second higher education in IT specialties in a number of universities.

«It’s a drag, because it’s the last working day before the New Year. The car’s battery is running low quickly, there’s 15 percent left. We look for a charger, we drive to OceanPlaza, the map shows as many as dscsv of free ports there. But the parking lot resembles a madhouse with cars crawling in different directions, trying to find somewhere to settle in. We run away, drive towards Respublica, where I know a good charger. There are 11 km left on the road, which means 5 kilometers in the cold. In this stress, we find a free charger on the map, reach it, park it and go to warm up. We exhale. Then suddenly, an hour later, I see in the app that the car has stopped charging. It turns out that the area has been turned off, the charger has also gone out. We have to drive further to look for a new one. We drive again, again the same 11 km, we stop near Respublica. I insert the gun, pay money for the app. And here this area is already dying. Damn, I’m ready to abandon this damn car and go to Vasylkiv by minibus. We find another charging point, a kilometer away. We go there. Industrial zone, garages. We get stuck in a snowdrift. We push ourselves out. We arrive. This is some kind of critical infrastructure structure and the charging works! I’m also charging this application, for the third time.» This is part of a post by journalist and now military serviceman Stanislav Yasynskyi, who a few days ago recalled how on New Year’s Eve he tried to charge his electric car, moving from location to location, because the light was disappearing.

The most interesting technological innovations we expect from the crypto market in 2026
From a user’s perspective, the industry may seem to evolve in waves. Periods of sudden interest and massive capital inflows alternate with «crypto-like» phases. Innovation is put on hold, and all work is put on hold.
But at the development level, this never happens.
The work of developers and programmers is continuous — regardless of the currency price, news background, or attention from a wide audience. Progress is achieved consistently, step by step, turning ideas into real technical innovations.

How a scandalous Moldovan oligarch became Putin's bottomless crypto wallet, and the A7A5 cryptocurrency helps the Russian Federation circumvent sanctions. What is known about this
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the topic of Russia circumventing Western sanctions has not lost its relevance, and the «tougher» the sanctions become, the more ingenious the ways to circumvent them are. The word «tougher» had to be put in quotes right away, because the concepts of «toughness» and «Western sanctions» do not go well together in the same sentence — especially for Ukrainians, who are already tired of trolling Western (in)decision to act. Nevertheless, if Russia were to sit idly by and not take any steps in response, these sanctions would have a much more critical effect on the aggressor country. Unfortunately, it is not sitting like that, and the sluggish Western bureaucracy does not have time to react to this properly.

A few years ago, today’s realities might have seemed like the plot of a fantasy film to Ukrainians. Life with a minimum of household goods, which Kyiv residents and others are now forced to live, is a test that sometimes causes despair, confusion, and anger not only at the enemy, but also at the local authorities, which probably should have foreseen something like this.

So in May 2022, the «eDrive» project was born — not just a car forum or a public on social networks, but a modern platform where drivers can maintain their own blogs about cars, share experiences and use special tools for keeping a «car diary». In three years, the platform has grown from a basic MVP to a community of over 60,000 users, mostly from Ukraine. We tell you what kind of tool this is and who it is useful to.

Analysis Paralysis Syndrome: Why Ukrainian Marketers Are Drowning in Data
The term “analytics paralysis” describes a situation where marketers lose productivity due to data overload or the complexity of processing it. This manifests itself in two ways: Infrastructure complexity — the company has accumulated numerous reports, conversions, GTM settings, and advertising systems, but maintaining this system takes more time than strategic work. Lack of clarity - even with a small amount of data, the marketer does not know how to structure it, what conclusions to draw, how to build reports and make decisions. Both scenarios lead to distraction from key tasks and reduced efficiency.

We spoke with electric car owners and industry experts about operating cars in conditions of constant electricity shortages and extreme temperatures.

Since 2023, he has already worked in the Ministry of Digital Affairs team, where he participated in the development and launch of a number of key digital products.
In an interview with dev.ua, Andriy Hrytsenyuk spoke about his attitude to personnel rotations at the Ministry of Digital and Defense, about plans for laser weapons and their implementation; about programs for interceptor drones and missile production; about how often Brave1-funded miltech startups never reach the release of the promised product and why they have to be sued, and also about the mysterious but high-profile plans of the cluster for 2026.

Ukraine has seen a sharp increase in demand for repair and maintenance of portable charging stations. According to EcoFlow brand manager Serhiy Silin, after October 10, 2025, the number of service calls has increased dozens of times. This creates queues for repairs and affects the service times of official stations. Sales are also growing — September showed up to 3,000 stations sold per month, and in October-December 2025, sales exceeded 20,000 devices across the country.
dev.ua talked to experts — electronics repair service center master Maksym and EcoFlow brand manager Serhiy Silin — and found out what breakdowns occur most often, what to pay attention to when choosing a station, and how to safely operate batteries and inverters in real conditions.

In the second half of last year, many politicians presented it as a great boon for the Ukrainian defense industry, but as of mid-January, most miltech and deftech companies, despite all the promised «bonuses», are only eyeing the opportunity to join this special regime.

How to overcome peak loads during holidays: tips
The holidays are over, which means it's time for useful insights on how to survive the last quarter of each year and come out of it in the black. Yes, this is not only the time when you plan budgets, run to corporate parties and in December say "let's do it after the holidays". The fourth quarter is the time when you need to work specifically, because there is no such concentration of holidays and sales in the whole year. Holidays and sales = more sales, and more sales = profit. Sounds cool, right? But for the pluses in the reporting you have to pay with a stress test for all business processes - including payment flow.
