Personnel for the defense industry: why there is a shortage not only of hands, but also of time and systemic solutions
We are all now competing not only for resources, but also for time. Every day that the defense industry does not have enough people, solutions, and coordinated processes is a day that the enemy can adapt faster. Miltech is one of the key growth points of Ukrainian resilience and superiority. But it is here that the personnel problem is most acute. There is a shortage not only of developers or engineers. There is a shortage of people who can combine military experience with technical vision. There is a shortage of systems for their training, search, and adaptation.

Facilitation: How to Not Lose Your Mind in an Endless Brainstorming Session Without Solutions
Facilitation was not born in corporate negotiations — it all started with group dynamics, pedagogy, therapy and activism. But it was business that quickly realized that when people talk and hear each other, common things go better. There, facilitation was formalized into clear roles, timings and diagrams. From there, it returned to broader contexts: such as citizen involvement in decision-making, urban planning, public policy — and has long worked not only to increase productivity, but also to increase mutual understanding.

Large Ukrainian manufacturers of drones and other equipment are faced with a dilemma regarding opening their own production facilities in European countries (or joint ventures with international partners). There are actually a lot of reasons for this — the need for scaling, simplified entry into new markets, access to certain technologies, a more stable and predictable business climate, and the main one — overcoming the negatives of closed arms exports, which some manufacturers already call the «iron curtain» or «reinforced concrete wall». And, of course, production safety. This list can probably be continued.

How Defence City will work, which, as the initiators say, they came up with because «Ukraine should be a country of gunsmiths,» and what currently raises the most questions — in the analysis of dev.ua.

Feedback as a Recruiter's Superpower: Why I Always Respond to Candidates
Working as a recruiter, I communicate with dozens of candidates every day. We talk about their experience, career expectations, professional motivation. I know very well how exciting each stage of the selection process can be: from the first call to the final interview. For a candidate, it is always an investment of time, energy, and even emotions. Unfortunately, the market still has the practice of «silence after the interview.» The candidate waits, but does not receive any answer. This leaves him in a state of complete uncertainty, creates a feeling of futility of the efforts spent, and undermines trust in the company.

The topic of artificial intelligence has been on everyone’s mind for several years now. The rapid breakthrough in the development of neural networks, artificial intelligence, and machine learning over the past few years has led to the emergence of radically opposing views on the prospects of artificial intelligence not only among ordinary people, but also within the technological community itself.

Artist Bohdana Chilikina has sued Ukrposhta for copyright infringement. She was surprised to learn that stamps made by Ukrposhta with an image that fully corresponds to her painting «People Are Here» were being sold on eBay. So she hired copyright lawyers and filed a lawsuit against the postal operator on the eve of this article’s publication. According to her, this was preceded by lengthy correspondence with Ukrposhta in an attempt to resolve the situation out of court, but, as the artist says, her proposals for mediation were not accepted.

The Ada programming language, born in the late 1970s at the initiative of the Pentagon, managed to enter the top 10 of the TIOBE index in July 2025. Could its appearance in the ranking mean an awareness of the value of durable, reliable, and secure products? After all, it is these qualities that distinguish Ada from other programming languages, and it is for these reasons that it is used to develop military software and large complex projects in the USA and Europe. And what is the fate of Ada in Ukrainian IT? To find out the answer to this question, we talked to Oleksandr Korochkin, a candidate of technical sciences, who is the initiator of teaching Ada in Ukrainian universities, with the Head of Engineering of the Ukrainian MilTech company Athlon Avia, which uses this language for its developments, as well as with programmers who work at AdaCore, a manufacturer of software development tools for Ada.

Has it ever happened to you that you work carefully on a task, check every little detail, and finally hand over the result with relief and pride. And in response you hear the familiar «Everything is fine, but there are a few comments.» These are not passive-aggressive comments with subtext, but rather healthy, constructive criticism. But even that can trigger a whole range of emotions in a matter of seconds, from irritation and resentment to anger.

The game, based on the full-scale invasion of Hollow Home, has been in development for over two years. During this time, approximately 30,000 gamers have added the game to their Steam wishlist, but it still does not have a publisher and the studio relies entirely on its own resources. In a conversation with dev.ua, Twigames founder Valeriy Minenko spoke about the challenges of creating the game, how developers convey the horrors of war crimes, and the state of the game development industry in Ukraine.

According to an IBM report, the average global cost of a data breach reached $4.88 million in 2024, up 10% from 2023 — the largest annual jump since the pandemic. For businesses, data leaks are not just temporary disruptions. They can cause downtime, damage your reputation, and even threaten national security. Therefore, the question «Is your software secure?» should be a concern for both the head of a small business and the top manager of an international company.

On the way to financial independence: TOP 7 investment tools for generating passive income without leaving your computer
To mark the 34th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence, dev.ua decided to figure out whether it is possible for IT professionals and others to achieve financial independence in the modern world, and what tools are most suitable for this. In Ukraine, where the economic situation remains unstable due to war and inflation, creating sources of passive income is becoming the key to financial security. Passive income gives the freedom to choose: work as you wish, travel or invest time in your own projects. In 2025, Ukrainians have access to a variety of investment instruments that allow them to achieve this goal — from land to digital assets. In short, financial independence is not about winning the lottery or receiving an inheritance from distant relatives. It is about the ability to live the way you want, without constant anxiety about tomorrow. For many IT professionals, it is also an opportunity to free up their time from routine work to devote it to their own projects, travel, or family. And the best part is that financial freedom is quite real if you choose the right tools and start acting now.

What comes to mind when you hear about artificial intelligence in manufacturing? Something like global giants like Tesla and Amazon, smart robots, or the medicine of the future? Today’s technologies make it possible to integrate AI even into the creation of food for tailed pets. How exactly, says Ivan Zubarev, founder of Practik, a Ukrainian brand of natural food for cats and dogs.

“We are moving from a ‘quiet haven’ to a full-fledged IT ecosystem.” CEO of IT Cluster Transcarpathia told dev.ua what has changed for IT professionals in Transcarpathia during the full-scale war
According to a recent study by YouControl, the number of new IT sole proprietorship registrations in Transcarpathia increased by 28,7% compared to the first half of 2024, making this region the absolute leader in relative growth in the first six months of 2025. Given the numerous promises of local authorities to assist IT specialists relocated to the Transcarpathian region and, as a result, plans for large-scale development of the IT industry in the region, we asked the CEO of IT Cluster Transcarpathia, Myroslava Majdych, to comment on the situation — what has changed during the years of full-scale war?

AI as part of the DNA: how to integrate artificial intelligence to improve the user experience
Artificial intelligence (AI) in 2025 no longer causes the same wow effect as before. Today, it is a reality that most technology companies live in. But it is one thing to say that «we are also with AI», and another to actually integrate tools at all levels: from support to development. In our team, this is no longer a separate initiative — it is part of the operating model.

Once upon a time, to get a job in IT, all you needed was an acquaintance who would say, «Come on, let’s talk.» A resume? LinkedIn? Job sites? No, we hadn’t even heard of such a thing. Then the market began to boil. IT hype, salary races, hunting for the best, endless interviews and the fight for every specialist… 34 years of hiring in independent Ukraine is a story of adaptation, creativity and the fight for the people who make the product. And also — millions of human stories who, overcoming the challenges of different times, got their dream job. In a partnership project with UNITY-BARS, dev.ua has collected seven candid stories of specialists who joined the company at different times — from the first years of independence to the present day. These are stories about chance encounters, bold decisions, life-changing projects, and an atmosphere that makes you not want to leave. And what is important — all of our heroes still work for the company, despite numerous attempts by competitors to lure them away, and even return to UNITY-BARS from international employers.
