OpenAI releases Atlas browser. How will it change user behavior?
OpenAI presented its new browser — Atlas — on October 22. The main feature is a personal assistant — a chatbot that can be initiated from any site. It helps to find the necessary information on the pages, select products, compare prices and even perform some functions, for example, book a hotel for certain dates or make an order.

Lviv-based researcher and engineer Maria Giy, together with a professor at the University of California (CSUN), is developing the Early Insight & Engagement System (EIES) AI platform — an innovative solution at the intersection of engineering, behavioral sciences, and ethical artificial intelligence. The system detects signs of stress and isolation in adolescents and can reduce the number of students dropping out of school and criminalization of youth. The idea for such a platform was born from an academic study of the behavior of Ukrainian adolescents, which Maria conducted with Lviv National University, working with data from hundreds of children. Currently, the specialist lives in the USA, and her development is being prepared for testing in American schools in 2026. The EIES project is an example of an original contribution to the development of EdTech engineering and socially oriented AI, which has already attracted the attention of the academic and technological communities in the USA. Maria’s work demonstrates international leadership in the field of educational technology and artificial intelligence aimed at supporting youth. dev.ua talked to the specialist and learned a lot of interesting things about the career and achievements of the graduate of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, who has been creating useful AI products overseas for several years. Below is a direct speech from the specialist.

How AI is changing not only business, but also the geography of the digital economy
In the world of artificial intelligence, speed is not an advantage, it is a condition for survival. AI models require enormous amounts of data and computing power. And when the delay between data and calculations is even a few milliseconds longer, a business can lose accuracy, money, or a competitive advantage. Hence the new reality: today , data is not sent to data centers, but data centers are placed closer to data sources. (AI doesn’t wait for the data to arrive — it “goes” to it.)

As the startup competition at this year’s IT Arena showed, the integration of technological solutions based on artificial intelligence into the field of psychology is more than timely. Especially in a warring country that is smoothly approaching the fourth anniversary of full-scale war and has been fighting the enemy on the battlefield for more than 11 years.

How to divide bitcoins or other virtual assets during a divorce: tips from a lawyer
The legal field regulating the circulation of virtual assets in Ukraine is in a state of dynamic formation. This circumstance creates fundamental challenges for the application of the regime of joint property of spouses to them. Courts are forced to operate in conditions where special legislation has been adopted but not put into effect, and the general norms of the Civil and Family Codes do not contain direct instructions regarding digital assets.

The Russians are hitting Ukraine with rocket-propelled grenades that travel up to 130 km at breakneck speed. What kind of weapon is this and is there a chance to intercept and neutralize it?
The Russians have stepped up the use of rocket-propelled grenades at the front. These bombs are a «miracle weapon» for the Russians, as they destroy buildings «like cards», creating craters 6–10 m in diameter. Air defense does not have time to react to such weapons — the bombs are low-emission, fast. dev.ua tells what jet-guided bombs are and whether the Ukrainian military has a chance to counter them.

Software Developer at Sigma Software Group Alexander Filippov is a veteran who managed to return to IT after demobilization. He returned to IT for the third time — before the war he had a break in his profession, trying to create a business. Unlike many IT workers, he chose an office format of work, because he believes that «frames remove noise.» dev.ua talked to Oleksandr about what it’s like to return from the army to civilian life, to work in an office when most professionals are looking for complete remote work, and about the importance of freedom in the life of a former military man.

Olena Onishchenko, an experienced software quality engineer from Lviv, moved to the USA with her family 4 years ago. Such a relocation became a challenge for her — finding a job in America was not easy, and the requirements for specialists there are somewhat different than in Lviv. Currently, Olena works at Doximity — the leading digital health platform in the USA, which is used by over 80% of American doctors. dev.ua talked to the IT professional about what it’s like to build a career in a foreign country in the era of the heyday of artificial intelligence, why technical knowledge is not enough for a tester today, and how the profession of a bug hunter is transforming, requiring more involvement, flexibility, and creativity from specialists.

CTOs at different stages of growth: how does technical leadership evolve with the company?
Technology leadership is not static: the CTO role changes with the company, and what works for a small team does not scale to hundreds of engineers. The article examines how CTO responsibilities evolve at key growth stages — from 7-20 engineers, 20-50, 50-100 to over 100, where the line between hands-on and strategy is drawn, and how AI is changing the priorities of technical leadership. (The ranges and numbers are tentative; they give a general idea of the changing focus of responsibilities.)

Employees of companies come and go, but the problem of their access to corporate software remains. It is quite difficult to manage many passwords and license accesses, especially if it is a large company with different departments and hundreds of employees who use completely different software. This is a question of both security (when a dismissed employee continues to have access to certain software products, especially if they contain sensitive information), and cost overruns (when the same dismissed employee continues to use licensed software with a paid subscription from the previous employer for his personal interests).
