Prompt engineers, LLM Engineer, AI Ops, AI Safety — new roles are appearing faster than IT professionals can update their LinkedIn and resumes. But at the same time, another concern is growing: what will happen to traditional developers if machines become better at writing code? It seems that the market is starting to divide engineers no longer into junior, middle, and senior, but into those who know how to work with AI — and those who try to compete with it. dev.ua spoke with industry leaders — EPAM, Ciklum, Railsware, PlantIn, Levi9, ZONE3000 and EVO — and almost all of them are convinced that AI does not take away the value of engineering, but is very quickly changing what is currently considered strong engineering. Commercial special projects producer at AIN.UA Viktoriya Khorovets took three days off to reboot, and instead… accidentally became a vibecoder. Without any technical background, but with a lot of enthusiasm, Viktoriya organized a 50-round “ping-pong” of queries between Claude and Gemini. The result? Her own working application for playing tennis with friends, which now flaunts an icon on the screen of her smartphone. Victoria shared with dev.ua her experience of transforming from a humanitarian into a vibecoder in just three days.
